Director of Music
Bill has been involved in music all of his life. Coming from a family of singers, it is understandable that he would pursue a career in music. After serving in the Air Force, Bill graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in 1983 with a Bachelor of Music degree in voice and a second major in Theatre. He taught high school for two years and returned to UNO as a graduate assistant to the choral department. Bill completed his Master of Music degree in conducting in 1988, after being hired by the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) in Kenosha, Wisconsin. On the music department staff, Bill traveled extensively teaching and conducting festivals and clinics for the next 19 years. In 2006, Bill left the BHS and moved with his wife and two children to Knightdale, NC where he taught at Knightdale High School. After three years, he was transferred to Jones Dairy Elementary School where he is the Music Specialist and teaches 800+ students music. Bill also directs one of the premiere barbershop choruses in the world, international finalist, the General Assembly Chorus. Bill joined Hillyer in January of 2012 and is responsible for the music programs. He conducts the Youth Choirs, the Chancel Choir, and the Hillyer Community Chorus.
