Sunday School Classes

Hillyer offers many adult Christian Education classes with varied teaching styles, formats, and curricula. Come visit one of these classes any Sunday morning!

Journeys of Faith:

Meets in the room adjacent to the Fellowship Hall

Each of us is on a journey of faith with God. Journeys of Faith is a Christian Education opportunity for adults at Hillyer facilitated by Sherri Jaster.

Chapel Class:

Meets in the Cuthrell Chapel on the second floor, east side of the building

The Chapel Class is named for the Cuthrell Chapel where the class has met for over 30 years. Couples and singles are equally comfortable in this class. Although certainly not a requirement, the class provides an opportunity to teach with several members sharing in the teaching rotation. The class has an active social life, including monthly meals out, affording ample opportunity to share joys and sorrows, and to develop deep and lasting friendships. The diverse membership of the class represents a broad range of faith united by the love of Christ and their love and concern of each other.

Disciples Class:

Meets in the parlor next to the office on the lower level

The Disciples Class members are maturing singles and couples (typically in their 60’s and 70’s) who are proactive in overalll church programming, with an emphasis on spiritual growth as well as social outreach. The class currently studies The Present Word curriculum and are very fortunate to have Rev. Buddy Westbrook (a retired Hillyer Timothy) leading the class. In addition to a monthly restaurant outing, the class enjoys a traditional Christmas meal in a member’s home. Visitors and prospective members are welcome.

Fellowship Class:

Meets in the Genesis Classroom on the lower level.

The Fellowship Class is made up of the “young at heart” senior adults ages 60 to 90. This lecture-style class is currently using The Present Word curriculum with alternating teachers. The group is very friendly and informal and participants enjoy open discussions about the lesson and other church topics. The Fellowship Class has get-togethers three or four times a year.
