JOY! Sunday School Program
Our JOY! (Jesus, Others, and Yourself) Sunday School program for children K-5th grades meets from 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. on the third floor. This program is a revolutionary approach to teaching using the workshop rotation model. Your child will be taught this Biblically-based curriculum via computers, art, drama, puppetry, sign language, movies, storytelling, and the caring guidance of his or her shepherd. JOY! meets on the third floor at Hillyer Holy Land room. Gathering time begins at 9:45 a.m. with prayer time, offering, and activities to support the current workshop theme. At 10:00 a.m., the children move with their flock and shepherds to a room designed to foster learning the Bible in a fun and creative way. By approaching a Bible story in a different way for 4-5 Sundays, we are able to expose your child to a variety of ways to develop spirituality and deepen their relationship with God.
Preschool Sunday School
All children ages 3 through 5 who have not yet entered Kindergarten are encouraged to attend Sunday School in the Preschool room located on the second floor. Sunday School time begins at 10:00 a.m. with a Bible story. The children then utilize learning centers such as art, dramatic play, blocks, family living, books, God’s wonder, video, and music to explore Bible stories which emphasize God’s love and how to live the way Jesus taught us to live. If you would like to volunteer in the Preschool room after Sunday School, click here to sign up online or email Susan Gray.
Children’s Church is offered for K-2nd graders on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The curriculum used focuses on various aspects of worship and Christian symbols that are used in the worship experience. K-2nd graders move to the Holy Land room on the third floor following the Children’s Moment in our 11:00 a.m. traditional worship service. Parents pick up their children there following worship. This time is used to prepare children for the transition to full participation in the worship service. If you would like to volunteer to teach Children’s Church, click here to sign up online or email Susan Gray.
The church is so blessed to have Phyllis Rudolph and Sharon Richardson love the children of Hillyer as they do. They are greatly appreciated as are the many volunteers who help allowing parents to worship week to week. A blessing also is having a fantastic nursery staff who are dedicated to Hillyer. They are Mary Prak, Courtney Biedell, and Finley Baldwin. If you would like to volunteer in the Nursery after Sunday School, click here to sign up online or email Susan Gray.
